Biography
Max Grosch was born in 1974 and started taking violin lessons at the age of 4. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Music Performance at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory, Augsburg under Prof. Lydia Dubrovskaya. Then he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Moores School of Music in Houston/Texas, where he completed his Masters degree in Music Performance under Prof. Emanuel Borok.
He then continued his studies with a scholarship in the field of Jazz at the renowned New School University in New York, where he studied with teachers such as Hal Galper, Vincent Herring, Kenny Werner, Gerard D'Angelo, John Blake, Johannes Weidenmüller and Jane Ira Bloom. At the festivals of Lake Placid and Banff/Canada he was further able to learn from teachers such as Kenny Werner, Joe Lovano, Bob Brookmeyer, Rufus Reid, Billy Hart, Bob Mintzer, Rick Pekham, as well as perform.
In April of 2004 the 'max grosch quartet' recorded their debut album titling 'we will see…', which was received well by the press and radio. In 2008 the Crossover-album ‘Brahms meets Jazz’ was released in a co-production with the Bavarian Broadcasting Company. Further live broadcasts on air followed thereafter. A new CD Production of the ‘Max Grosch Organ Trio’ featuring the New York saxophone great Vincent Herring is about to being released.
Since November of 2004 Max Grosch is holding the position for Professor of Jazzviolin at the Conservatory of Klagenfurt/Austria. Further he has taught workshops at the Festivals Jazzinty (Slovenia), Jazzdays Wolfsberg, Musikforum Viktring (both Austria), the Zelt Musik Festival in Freiburg (Germany), the annual Conference of ESTA/Austria, countless clinics for children and young performers, as well as at many schools in Europe and the US, such as the renowned Music Akademy in Vienna and the NOCCA Institute in New Orleans.
In the past few years Max Grosch was able to perform in the USA, Canada, England, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Germany with his own bands or as guest performer.
